GENERATOR  – Collaborative platform for development of dance theater for children in the Balkans is a long term collaborative project that aspires to contribute to the development of performing arts for young audiences in the Balkan region. Central to the project are children, their position in society and issues important for their advancement and future. Therefore Generator will focus on potentials that performing arts and its related practices have, on their ability to communicate with children, to introduce and renegotiate systems of valorisation as well as to address relevant and sensitive issues from diverse perspectives. All this is supposed to be implemented as a set of tools developed and offered to theatres, dance centres and venues, kinder gardens, elementary and special schools, parents and families. Just as the platform Nomad Dance Academy (www.nomaddanceacademy.org), it has to join the forces of all regional players and make the new platform more visible, efficient and socially relevant.

The project partners are Station Service for contemporary dance from Belgrade (www.dancestation.org), Tala Dance Center, Zagreb (www.tala.hr), Nomad Dance Academy Macedonia (www.nomaddanceacadmy.org) and Center for Education of Young People, Travnik (www.cem.ba ). Each organization has its own local network of arts, education and other organizations from public and civil sectors.

The main activities in the period 2014-2015 are research and mapping of policies, practices, expertise, initiatives and possibilities for a systemic development of dance theater for children, set of laboratories for dance and theater artists to work for and with children (international transfer of knowledge and experience), set of workshops with artists and educators (interdisciplinary transfer of knowledge) and production of the regional web page (with cultural portal SEE.CULT www.seecult.org ), a manual for educators, cultural animators and parents (how to take children to theater and what to do with that), and artistic productions for and with children.

Project is supported by Balkans Arts and Culture Fund – BAC, Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia and the City of Belgrade.
