Kondenz 2025, day two: BLISS
The second day of Kondenz brought the performance BLISS by Polish choreographer Ramona Nagabczyńska, presented at the Little Theatre “Duško Radović.”
This solo piece, greeted with ovations from the audience, explored an intimate understanding of pregnancy and childbirth as abject states—arising not only from the strange transformations of a woman’s body and emotions but also from the patriarchal constructs, cultural patterns, and social structures in which these experiences take place.
The abjectness of the “product” of that state was portrayed through numerous references to visual arts (various treatments of the body in imaging), rituals, and pop culture, making the work aesthetically dynamic and compelling.
The performance demonstrated that such themes and modes of artistic treatment can also find their place within the realm of theatre for children, young audiences, and their parents.
